OLJATO TRADING POST

One afternoon in October 2003, I was driving around, at that time gas was around $1.58 a gallon. I wanted to drop in and see the Historic Oljato Trading Post. This isn't the trading post that was started by Wetherills, I believe the trading post they started was about a mile west of this one's location. I have some pictures of old trading post's location that the Wetherills started in the early 1900s. Today all that remains are stumps of the logs they use for walls. I'll post it later when I gather those pictures together.

Here is picture of a product that was sold in the Historic Oljato Trading post. Navajo Land Fine Beverages. I don't know who the bottling company was or where it originated from. When I saw this on display at the Oljato Trading Post, I asked the attendant if they could take it out for me to so I could take a picture of it. That attendant was friendly and helpful, sharing information about the old store. Pretty cool! You gotta stop in check it out if you have the chance.

This old Texaco Gas Pump was inside of the Oljato Trading Post. 

This was another time a year later when I rolled up to the Oljato store and I found this Rez dog, standing on the trunk of this car. Awesome. I love how random the rez can be. If you can't handle seeing stuff like this, the rez isn't for you.
